Re: washing off road salt

You know, I have always heard this, but more that it could warp a rotor, and I have lately wondered, what's the difference between washing them when hot and say, running through a large puddle, you can't avoid that situation sometimes! Besides, wouldn't going to the car wash be just as bad, you have just driven the car!

Re: washing off road salt

you are right, its is somewhat the same thing. going through the car wash is the same thing and not a good idea. but most people dont think about it. hitting a puddle of cold water is almost the same, but you arent spraying cold water directly onto the brakes. im sure some water gets in there but not like taking a hose and spraying it directly in to your wheel well. by the way, i had my pads crack on my mitsu eclipse a few years ago from spraying water directly on to the brakes after driving the car. thats how i know.
