Check out these sites dude, they will have both listed and show the diffs. I would think the 7424 is larger, faster, and more heavy duty, but it's only a guess. (More money too).

To me, looks like they're all the same except for how they're equipped and the counterweight.

Reading it again, the 7336 looks to be equipped with as a random orbital sander. You'd have to buy the appropriate polishing bonnets, backing pad, and counterweights to convert it.

it did come with the polishing pad (same one that is on the 7424). I don't want to use this thing if it is not correct, but from all looks it appears to be the same thing. The motor speeds and everything look identical (even on the portercable.com site)

As long as it comes with a hook and loop pad, you're good to go. You can buy hook and loop foam pads from Griott's Garage too.
