Rain-X on G Glass
Re: Rain-X on G Glass
No reason not to. It works great with the angle of our windshield. Just don't get it on the molding and obviously the paint.

I use it all the time!!!! Its great. Just be sure after a couple of layers to windex and try again. It works best on really clean glass!

Re: Rain-X on G Glass
only reason I was told not to use rain-x, is that it fills in the pours (sp?) of the glass, such that if you get a rock chip, it wouldn't be reparable, because the resin wouldn't have anything to bond to. I'd put rain-x on anyways, because the way the rain sheets off of it is worth it, in heavy rains. Besides, I've caught numerous rocks, and the two times it did any damage (previous car), the crack ran all the way to the edges anyways, so it wasn't reparable even if I hadn't put rain-x on.
Re: Rain-X on G Glass
The window chip repair resin bonds to the inside surface of the cracked glass. You shouldn't have any Rain-X in there anyway unles you treated your glass with Rain-X after you got the crack.
I've been using Rain-X since it came out in the 70s (I think). Never had a problem with a chip repair because of it.

The other great rain drop mover is to just use regular old paste carnuaba wax. Works as well as rain-x and you do not have to worry about getting on the paint.

Yes it does, I have always used wax on my cars windshields! Not on my G yet though!

Re: Rain-X on G Glass
I just bought Rain X today. It was on sale at 1.99 a gallon. Now this Rain X by the gallon is supposed to be put into the washer fluid reservoir under the hood. But if I put it there it will splash on the paint every time I use it. Right?
Should I use it as described by filling my washer fluid reservoir with it? What does it do to paint?
If you guys suggest against it, I'll just use this stuff in my old 98 accord.

NO!!! Last time I tried this it sucked!!! It gums of everything and smears.
Now the $5.00 orange premixed rain-x stuff is great, but expensive!
I suggest you stick with the little bottle of wipe on wipe off!
