Zaino recommended towels - where to buy?
Hey all,
I want to get some 100% made in USA towels as recommended by Sal Zaino. He specifically recommends a brand name such as Fieldcrest/Cannon but I think some of their webpages are a little outdated.
Fieldcrest/Cannon makes a towel named "Royal Velvet" and is supposed to be a superior towel but after much Googling I was unable to find anyone that had white bath towels in stock. It looks like the line of towels is discontinued.
Anyone know where I can find one or a comparable equivalent? Also, I'm not looking for microfiber, already have some

Don't use typical cotton towels. Get yourself some high quality microfiber towels, not the crap you find at pep boys.

Like I said, I already have some microfiber towels (think I got them from autogeek.net but I'm not hugely impressed by them. There was another thread in this forum where someone emailed Sal and he replied that he still recommends using a high quality made in USA cotton towel over a microfiber towel.
I have been absolutely stunned by the quality of products that Zaino has produced so I will go by their recommendation for what towel to use. Problem now is to finding them!

I bought mine at JCPenny's. Not the cheap ones, I paid $6 or $7 a piece and they were on sale.

They say JC Penney Home Collection on them. I didn't need to cut the hem on them either, you just fold them over.

No special material, just 100% cotton. I only use mine for the car and when I wash them I don't use fabric softener. Just follow the zaino recommendations.

Re: Zaino recommended towels - where to buy?
How long has the 100% Cotton Towels lasted after cutting the edges off like Sal at Zaion recommends?
I bought 2 large bath towels, after one wash the ends are just coming apart every where. They are very soft after a wash and dry cycle and do a great job. I assume $15 will just be the cost of a feew cleanings.

Re: Zaino recommended towels - where to buy?
I was worried about fraying so I didn't cut mine. I have to fold them in a tr-fold way so the seems and embroidery don't touch the car but there's plenty of towel to do the car. I've had mine for about 7 months and they've probably gone through over a dozen washings.

Re: Zaino recommended towels - where to buy?
Hey all,
Just wanted to followup as I did some research on this. The guys over at corvetteforum have gone over this subject many times over. It does look like Fieldcrest went belly up. This thread on corvetteforum hits the subject specifically about Fieldcrest towels as recommended by Sal Zaino.
I decided I wanted to stick with a 100% Cotton towel and found a set of 6 white Fieldcrest Charisma (100% Supima cotton) towels on ebay for $50 if anyone is interested (sorry don't have that link handy). It came with 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 washclothes.
