I know about the protection I'm not that clueless, but my issue of shlt weather had to do with the other major reason people wax and polish their car..the shine factor, cuz as soon as I do it, it gets dirty the next day.. actually that's the only good thing that comes out of me waxing/polishing my car, is that the crap that falls on it especially tree sap and bird crap just slide off when I wipe it as opposed to getting stuck to the paint..
I tried turtle wax before and it came out without a difference, it was my first time waxing so I dont think I let it haze long enough, second time around I did Nu Finish and it came out a lot better.... sometime when the weather clears I'll take your guys' advice and go with Duragloss..

by the way, do you guys use those spinning machines to apply the wax, or do you do it by hand? I was thinking about buying one to make the application easier..

I'm a noob in the detailing department and I am ashamed that I didn't take take of my baby until recently when I started waxing.. I went the meguier's Gold class and I loved the results.. She's not where I need her to be but we are getting there.

You may want to try a sealant instead of a wax since it offers much more durability. Check out the thread stickied at the top of the page to read about differences between a wax and sealant.

To answer your question........I used my Porter Cable to apply ALL of my sealants, but waxes I apply by hand since they are typically in a paste format.

wash and dry, clay (use adequate lubricant), polish with poorboy's ssr-3 or similar (very light abrasion), klasse aio, (optional - klasse high gloss sealant), and then s100 or p21s. wont be able to beat that. read other threads on the the process
