Does frequent washing/drying reduce the life of wax/sealant?
I'll try to wash/dry the car at least once/week even in the winter. To dry, I usually have to use one microfiber towel to get most of the water off then following with a dry one to completly dry the car.
Do these washings/dryings remove the wax/sealant faster than ie.. not washing the car for weeks/months at a time?
It's not that big of a deal as I use the Optimium spray wax but just wondering

Thats a hard one to answer, but the longer you leave contamination on your surface, the more time it has to permenantly imbed in your clearcoat, which will mean more claying, so you would be trading one step for another. Just wash it every week, and wax when it becomes apparent that its starting to lose its beading

My logic is that if the OW is a wipe on/wipe off product, then constantly washing/wiping would shorten it's life.
I usually don't wait for the bead loss. When the paint starts not to really smooth/soft, I usually throw on another coat. Hell you don't even have to worry about the black plastic, rubber or glass for that matter!

WOWO, once dried and cured, are no different than any other types of waxes/sealants. The polymers self assemble and crosslink while the solvents evaporate. Once this occurs, any sort of agitation or contact can break this, resulting in loss of protection. This included constant contact with dirt for extended periods of time, which when washed off can pull the wax off with it. So in either case, some amount of sealant deterioration is going to occur, to say which is greater is nearly impossible, but if the car is covered in dirt for an extended amount of time, you will not be able to judge whether the protection has been compromised because the dirt/contamination mask the waxes beading ability.

Ever dry the car and then the thin film of leftover moisture freezes? It's getting like that. eek.
One thing good about the OW, when it's wet, the water beads/rides off. Car seems to stay cleaner a bit longer.

Before I was able to garage my G, I used to faithfully wash my car every week. As long as the water didn't freeze, I would wash it.
I would use Detail spray after each wash, and at least once every 6 weeks I would apply a coat of wax.......In a garage of course.
I found the more I washed it, the more I needed to wax it. So it was a trade off of sorts, but I rather keep it waxed and clean than let the winter salt/dirt sit on the paint for any lenght of time.

Thanks for the experience. It's lucky we have some spray on/wipe off waxes like Optimium product. I don't mind having to wax it a little more often if it only takes like 15 min to get another coat on. i go though the stuff like water though. This bottle is 3/4 done and I've only had it since the summer.

TTrank, It rained three days in AZ last week. Just before the Scum Devils got lucky beating my Wildcats.
