Good suggestion. I try to treat my exhaust pipes every 2 months with Poorboy's Wheel Sealant or Wheel Wax and it definitely helps bring back the deep shine with a normal wash.
The products work best if the exhaust is properly prepped first.

I've tried a number of different chrome polishes in my day and this one is hands down the best plus it leaves behind a layer of protection:

It really works VERY well on all the chrome trim on my G35 (around the windows, the front grill, rear trunk lip, and exhaust tips). The only complaint I have is that the only place I can find to buy it is directly from the company.
