Little help with porter cable!

Hey guys, I'm sure these questions have been asked a million times, but I need to ask again .

My porter cable polisher should be here any day now and I want to make sure I have the steps down right.

Is this how I should do it...

1. Wash car.
2. Clay bar (maber wash again)
3. Oange pad with Menzerna.
4. White pad with Poorboys.
5. Wash car to remove dust.
6. Meguiars NXT mabe with porter, or might do this by hand, not sure yet.

Are there any steps that I'm missing?

Also any tips for a beginer with the porter cable, this will be the first time I use one. I will probably go and get a cheap pad from pep-boys and practice on the beater until I get comfortable using it.

Any help would be great!

-Tom

Remember when washing the car the second time. Do blotting or if you have a leaf blower. Use that. Don't want to induce more swirls after polishing.

49$ sounds like 106ff which you do not have to follow up with a finishing polish really, because it kinda is one, its more like a hybrid polish i think...

No 106ff is a final polish. Also SIP is in the $45-50 range

I should be getting it in the mail today, but the weather sucks here, so it may be a few days before I can use it.

Also can I get some cheap pads for this at pepboys, I want to practice a little on my beater and don't want to ruin a good pad. What pad do I need?

Yea man, this weather sucks.

I got it from a forum sponsor, Detailed Image. I got the porter cable, 2 orange pads for heavy swirls, 2 white pads for light swirls, the 2 polished they recomended, and then 1 pad to try with wax. They are located in Albany, so the shipping only takes about a day!

Also are you registered over on G35nyc, you should register over there, or sign up for the meet on the 14th here!

Don't use the cheap pads that pep boys has, The only good thing I found for the pc was microfiber bonnets which I put over the pad that came with the pc. But I know you can go to a auto paint supplies store or carquest and there have either 3m or meguiars pads.

I got the cheap pad from pepboys that slides over the one that comes with the pc, and it worked great for the beater. I would never use a cheap pad for the G, but the beater I could care less what pad I use.

Also it works great, I'm very happy with how well it polishes the paint!

Also thanks Detailed Image for getting me this so fast, and helping me to decide just what products I need.

What part of the pad should I use, the edge? or do I want to keep the pad as flat against the car as I can?
