Headlights "glazed"(?)

I know the subject matter is out there somewhere but I can't find it so I'll ask...anyone have a permanent remedy for the external glaze or fog that constantly resides on my headlights??

3M clear plastic polish. After that, use the 3M clear plastic detailer to keep them perfect.

I got mine at AutoZone, actually... I looked at PepBoys and couldn't find it. You might want to check online for some stores, or call around and see who has it.

The first time I mentioned it was in August of '03 (here). You registered on this site in January of '04. If you could let me be privy to the time machine technology you're employing in order to jump back and sneak ideas to me in the past, I'd be most appreciative Kidding... I heard about it from IQ9 and my dealer in June of '03.

Re: Headlights "glazed"(?)

well, if you want areal remedy. You can try my way. But i will not be responsible for anything that happens to your headlights when u do this.

I actually found out that what is causing this hazing so to speak is that the factory plastic housing on the inside of it, has a layer of stuff. I don't know what this stuff is. BUt i think i know what this stuff does. THis stuff makes it so there condensation does not appear on the headlight cover. I know this because i took the layer off with acetone and put my headlight back together and drove it out at night time. I had condensation when my headlights were not on and when i turned them on, condensation on the plastic piece was gone. So....i don;t know if this a remedy per say but IT MAKES MY PLASTIC HOUSING LOOK LIKE ITS GLASSS!!!!! I can see right through it and i feel like i can touch my blacked out housing! Its worth it if there are no more consequences for my actions!

The loaner G35 I had last week, had something like that, I rubbed it firmly with my finger, it cleared up in that spot, maybe it's some form of oxidation.

Re: Headlights "glazed"(?)

I went to Autozone and found a plastic cleaner product.
It works great!, No more foggy looking headlamps.

Yeah I bought 3M Plastic Cleaner and 3M Plastic Polish. Use the cleaner then the polish and they are like new.

I wax mine, along with the tail-lights. It looks amazing for a good long time.

Re: Headlights "glazed"(?)

Anyone have pics of their hazed headlights? I'm experiencing this as well and I HATE it. I haven't tried the plastic cleaner yet but I'd be interested in seeing some pics to see if I'm having the same issue.

Re: Headlights "glazed"(?)

Do they look "smokey", or like someone sneezed on them?

You have it.

Re: Headlights "glazed"(?)

Just do a search. There are pics of the foggy headlamp
housing posted last year. That's when we discovered the
plastic cleaner solution.

Re: Headlights

I had the same problem. I tried Meguires "Plastx" and it worked very well. I can't really say if its a permanent fix( I really don't think so). My car is not garaged so its open to all the elements here in Toronto. I haven't seen this problem on any coupes yet.

Good Luck...
