isnt it great that cops are out there harrassing the public that pay there salaries over harmless things like tint and having a stupid air freshner hanging from your rear view mirror. the politicians dont want to raise taxes, so instead they have there tax patrol (cops) out there giving out tickets like mad. and if you have a bit of melanin in your skin, that doesnt help either. anyway, in jersey, if you have to take the tint off, just take it off of the front sides, you should be able to do that yourself. you can leave the rears. thats a legal setup. plus if you remove the tint on the rear windshield you could damage the defogger strips.

Was the ticket a moving violation?

In Illinois any tint on the front windows is illegal. In IL, no front license plate is a non-moving violation (~$55), but having the wrong design (an outdated design) license plate is a moving violation and it's $75. So it's better to drive with no front license plate than to have the wrong design one. I've had tickets for both =(
