Stupid Debadging Scratches...UPDATED w/ Pictures!
So I got excited and haven't done much to my car lately and decided to debadge my car (I have an 05 Sedan OB Sedan). Without thinking, I heated up the letters and everything came off smoothly. I bought a new container of Goo Gone and went scrubbing away at the adhesive, which took longer than expected.
So what happened? Like an idiot, I didn't was the area by the letters and G35 emblem before hand and ended up scratching this area pretty good. There are outlines from the letters where the adhesive was and around each letter are scratches.
I did a full detail today, (Clay, Polish (Menerza FPI), Poor Boys Sealant XP)) all by hand, but had very little impact on the scratches. Fortunately the scratches aren't deep and can't be felt, but they definitely can be seen.
I know that using an dual orbital buffer will obviously help, but I'm assuming I need a heavier cutting polish than what I used. I'm debating about buying a PC (something I know in the long run will be great), but am also debating about taking it to a shop to see if they can get it out before investing in a PC and a heavy polish that I may or may not use ever again. Anyone have a rough idea how much it would cost to have a shop buff out the damage?
Exaggerated due to flash, but still you can tell the damage (you can't feel the scratches however):
This is where the G35 emblem once was and is pretty accurate and has slightly less scratches than the Infiniti letters:
Most accurate picture of the scratches, which are obviously visible. Yuck!
So considering my idiotic mistake, what would everyone recommend? Basically I have scratches that can't be felt but can definitely be seen and I need them out. I'm an idiot. Pictures coming tomorrow.
Thanks in advance everyone!
Anyone see great deals on a Porter Cable?

Definitely go with the random orbitals. You can get good deals from George (Detailed Image), a sponsor on the forums.

Also, probably get yourself an orange... maybe even a yellow cutting pad.
Use should probably try using the PO106ff, first. This has pretty decent corrective ability and doesn't really need a lighter polish to finish off any hazing.

If that's not enough to get it out, you could use Power Gloss to get it out for sure.

You will probably pay more money getting it taken care of at a shop or having someone do it for you. I can almost bet that you would use the PC another time. Might also want to check out PO106fa which is an upgraded version of the 106ff. Menzerna is expensive, but it is some goooood stuff!!

I just debadged my crossfire today, it came out great.
My process was remove letters by hand (yes the 3' x 3" "CROSSFIRE" letters).
- Bug and Tar remover, let dwell for two minutes.
- Clay.

- Clay.
- Optimum Compound via PC w/ 4" LC yellow pad.
- Optimum Polish via PC w. 6.5' orange LC pad.
- Migliore: Original for protection and reflection.

While I realize my next post is absolutely pointless without pictures, I'm glad to say that my new PC, Menzerna Polish and a 4" Orange Pad completely and with ease cleared my mistake right up. I did a 50/50 on my trunk lid and the results are amazing! I just need to find the time to polish the entire car...
