thanks very much
It's sanding haze. And Turtle wax is terrible. You could have just used a light polish (PlastX) and it would have cleared right up but you went ahead and destroyed the headlight.

What polisher are you using? And you need a decent polish, such as plastX or anything like that to remove the sanding haze.

What grit sandpaper?

It has to be 1500+ and 2000 or more to finish....

these results will last about a month tops, all the rubbing and polishing removes a protective layer the headlights have, and have already lost. It's just a matter of time till they go back.

Ive been fighting this losing battle for the last 2 years. Meguires plast x is pretty good but isnt a permanente fix.

I think what he's saying is that the unrestored light looked so completely different is was like wearing a white sock with a black christmas sock.

Totally weird and mismatched lol

Odd comparison, socks to headlights....

I just wetsanded mine with 1000 grit, 2000 grit, then polished them using a buffer and PlasticX. They look brand new. I did my fiancee's 350z and my mom's S-Type...which were horrible. They all came out great.

does it really work, or do you have to keep re-applying?

I had one of those professional Headlight Dr guys come buy a few weeks ago to do my mom's Honda Accord that's been sitting outside for 9 years in the sun. This guy worked for over 2 hrs, sanding, buffing, and finally clear coating the headlights and I can say in all honesty, they look absolutely newer than new. It's a lot of work for the guy, and worth the $90 for me to be able to see at night when I drive that car.
