Meg polish Recommendations

I posted this in ask a proffestional detailer, but thought I might get a better response here....

I would like to do a good polish/was on my g35 this weekend using the meguiars line. I do have access to a pc, but may start by hand (never used a power polisher) and want to be careful. Anyways, here are the products I would like to use:

Meg clay bar/detail
clean with rubbing alc& water
Meg Polish (not sure which to use, or do I even have to after clay bar'ing and just go straight to the wax?)
Meg Gold class wax

I realize there are other (better) products available, but at this point I would like to stick with the meg line (I have easy access at the stores here in Calgary).

What I would like opinions on is if I have to still polish after using the clay bar, and if so which one should I use. The car has not been done in some time (no water beading at all) but still does have relatively decent shine.

Anyways, any suggestions or comments from you experienced fold would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Jason

What I use:

This will remove light swirls and works well and will even finish off nicely if you use a finishing pad. You WILL have to use the PC to get the results you are looking for (assuming of course that you have light swirls you are trying to remove).

Before recommending any finishing products I'd have to know what color you are working on and what kind of look vs. durability goal you are trying to achieve.

Yes, I would say light swirl marks, nothing too major, but definately in need of a sprucing up. My goal is better shine & protection. I dont need show car shine, but I am confident I can bring it up a couple notches pretty easily.

The paint is silver, and the car is an 03 with about 70K miles, normal wear and tear. I can try to get a decent pic if that would help....

PC will get those swirls out MUCH MUCH faster than by hand.... I find that' it's safer on the paint too as it applies the pressure pretty evenly...

Use a PC. I have a Flex 3401 with LC pads. As far as polishes,
Use Megs 105 DA version followed with Megs 205 or you can use
Menz SIP or IP and Follow that up with Menz PO1066A. Use a white
pad for the 105, SIP or IP and then a Grey or Blue with the PO1066A.
Leaves a beautiful finish. You say you don't need a show finish but
believe me when you have it once you will always want it.

Thank-you for all of the replies, I am definately going to use the pc, and I think I will be glad I did

Dont get me wrong, I do "want" the show car shine, but we dont have easy access here in Canada to some of the awesome detailing products available in the US. Not to say they cant be ordered, but for now I would just like a real good clean up with what is readily available, and as far as I can find that is Meguiars.

I will try to get a pic this weekend and see what you guys think

Cheers,

Jason

You can burn your paint with a PC if you don't know what your doing... I say get Meg DA with Meg pads and swirl-X. Use a good syn wax like NXT 2.0 after cleaning your paint.
