Dry Blade vs Water Blade

i was at walmart today and they had the CA dry blade and the CA water blade. they are both used to dry cars/boats. the dry blade was about $9 and it was 11" long. the water blade was $20 and was about 13" long. can anyone explain why the water blade cost so much more?

Re: Dry Blade vs Water Blade

The water blade uses medical grade silicone and is much more gentle on the cars finish I believe

Ahhh, that's a nightmare to us car detailing gurus. Either way, if you have to "drag" something accross your hood, you will drive small particles into your paint and scratch the heck out of your clearcoat leaving you a bunch of swirlmarks. Best thing to do if you want to dry your car easily...use Mr. Clean Autodry. No wiping necessary, and no water spots.

take care

Re: Dry Blade vs Water Blade

I've been yelled at for not be nice so here's my failed try....

What kind of ",,,car detailing gurus,,," would recomment the Mr. Clean Autodry system as is. That is, if you were a "real" "guru," you'd be using "better products." The "autodry" wash works "against" the natural beading of "wax/zanio."

After using "their' soap, everything "sticks" to the 'paint!" I still use the autoday system with watered down "zaino" wash.

If you clean your car well, dragging "100% silicon" will not damage your clearcoat. ""Driving"" "your" car "does" more damage!"""

As to the water blade vs others.

Name brand cost more, made in the USA
Dryblade: made in China~ may contain lead!
Silicon vs. Medical Grade Silicon<~ life of product not any softer!

Re: Dry Blade vs Water Blade

How??? I've been using it forever two black cars, and not one scratch due to the water blade! If you clean and clay your car there is no durt to scratch!

Its like saying that the minerals in water is going to stratch when the water hits it. OR how about when you first wash down a dirty car!!!

"STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO DRAG ACCROSS YOUR PAINT!"

Soooo how would you dry the car to avoid water spots.
No matter how you look at it you will contact the paint.

You can blow off the excess with a leaf blower, but you still need to finish up. But with what, a 100% cotton towel?

What do you use?

Re: Dry Blade vs Water Blade

I think using a waterblade is fine... However. What is wrong with the Mr Clean Autodry? I was just gonna get one today so I dont' have to blowdry my car everytime.

Re: Dry Blade vs Water Blade

Nothing is wrong with it really, id does exactly what it says. I personally have found using their soap doesn't agree with zanio. After one wash water does bead and it spots in the rain.

I use Mr.Clean with watered down soap! It works great!!!

Many posts later, G35Girl admitted one of her 14+/- kids was mine, thus (WRAH ~ had "relations" w/ g35girl!!!) & it was strangely unfulfilling for her!!!!

Re: Dry Blade vs Water Blade

a leaf blower? that's sounds even worse then using a waterblade. I've used the water blade for over 4 years now. I've never had a problem with it leaving scratches. Just make sure you clean your car well and the blade before every use.

The blade will not cause "swirls". Swirls are caused by moving an abbrasive material in a circular motion. I don't think the blade words well in a circular motion. I've seen more damage with a micro fiber terry cloth then a water blade.

My G35 was purchased 12/23/2002 to this date it still has no swirls. It's only been washed with a california blade and absorber.
