Here in NJ it's illegal to have any tint on the front two windows. I am going to be getting 50% tint on them which is the least noticable. Should I get 50% for the back two quarter windows and the back windshield or should I go darker and get 35% for the rear?

Thoughts?

 

Its illegal to have tint on front in Cali too. I've had 35% for a few years and never had a problem.

To answer your question...I personally think that two different shades of tint doesn't look right. But, I also think that 50% isn't worth it. So obviously, from my above note, I'd say risk it and go 35% all the way around.

 

It looks bad imo. My old car was 35/20 and you could tell and it always bugged me. My car now is 5% all around (*knock on wood*).

^ +1. How dark you go is also affected by your interior color. If you have a tan interior, you can get away with a little darker tint like a 20%, and conversely if you have a black interior you might want to stick with something like a 35%. This will give you a nice level of tinting but mitigate the risk of getting dinged for it.

 

go with the same % around...in va it illegal to have more than 50% on the front doors. i have 35% on all my car and never had a problem with getting tickets. i have a cousin in nj with dark tint on his cars and he really hasnt had problems ethier

35% will be fine if you're going to do it

 

I really don't like the look of different tints in the back and front. Keep it clean - all around 30%/35% is perfect.
