it worked! take that plastx

well guys i believe i have found the best headlight cleaner/restoration product. after using and buffing with bluemajic, plastx and turtle wax's headlight cleaner i had zero improvements to my headlights. i down to my last hope of actually baking my headlight open and cleaning the inside to make those dirty yellow and water marks go away. after all that cleaning i really tought the inside was dirty until i tried the great 3M HEADLIGHT RESTORATION KIT. and i have to say this product is the greatest. in just 4 hours of a very hot sunday i successfully made my headlights look brand new. i give it a 9.9 out of 10 and suggest all members who are tired of trying plastx or members who have to use those products every weekend to make their headlights look good to use this product. it only cost $20 at autozone or advanced auto parts. here are some pics

Wow! That's quite a difference. If you can post a pic of the product too.

I tired plastX with my DA on a polishing bad and no dice. My Lights are a bit yellow, and are foggy when the lights are on.

Is this kit the one with the Sanding things for your Drill?

4 hours???? I just use an orange pad on my UDM and a little Monzerna SIP and I'll clear both headlights in 15 minutes if even that long.

That works well for lightly hazed headlights but you have to touch them up every once in a while. The product that the OP is referring to takes the headlights down more. I just used the 3M kit a couple of weeks ago on my wife's g35 and it came out great. I had previously used plastx by itself, claybaring and then plastx, the Meguiar's kit with buffing pad and plastx, and finally the 3M kit. This is the best and easiest way to do it quickly. You can sand your headlights down by hand and that'll work just as well but the drill attachment is so much easier to use. I had similar results as the OP. By the way, mine were yellow, not slightly hazed.

To keep from getting the haze back you can get a head light clear bra kit and never have to touch them again. Once that coating is gone they will require up keep otherwise.

I had a guy come by an do it professionally. He worked like a dog for over 3 hours, cleaning, sanding, buffing, and finally clearcoating the headlights of my Mom's 2000 Honda Accord. This was over 3 months ago. They came out newer than new and it cost me $90. The lights were very badly yellowed and you can not tell the difference now between brand new ones. I think they were called Headlight Dr or something like that.

I bought this kit also the other day and must say did a great job cleaning up the FL damage to the lights but there are still scratches you can see with the lights on. Which pad should use to try and clear this up now?

Great improvement! I have heard nothing but good things about the 3M kit. Talk about a before and after photos.

I have the same problem. I got 85% of the yellow haze off by using a towel and Mequires cleaner wax. Took 2-3 tries though. But since the haze actually seems to be on the outside, I'll fire up my rotary and try some 3M rubbing compound and work my way up.

Wow, 500 grit, then 800 grit, then 3000 grit sanding. the follow up with polish.

500 grit is seriously rough stuff!
