Finally stripped the Zaino off and used NanoWax

Before you think I'm crazy for going away from Zaino (I had about 12 coats on my black coupe) I was kind of forced into it.

I was out last Friday night and something sprayed or was sprayed all over my car. I noticed it Saturday morning and immediately washed the G and to my surprise the spots were still there. I then realized I had to strip the car (of wax using Dawn) and clean up the G and reseal it.

I decided this would be the time that I would try the EagleOne NanoWax.

1. I stripped the car washing with dawn (two times).
2. I had to use a cleaner on the car to remove the spots/stains.
3. I applied a coat of polish.
4. I finally applied a coat of NanoWax.

I was surprised with the result. The car was extremely reflective. I did not get a chance to spray the car and wipe it down to really give it the wet look. I think the NanoWax is a thumbs up right now. Now I have to see how it holds up to the weather.... Here are some pics.

Looks good. But as you already stated you need to see how it holds up. I hate it when you wax a car and 3 days later it looks and feels like crap. Keep us posted on it.

Hate to say it, but Dawn does not strip zaino. It just "dulls" the outside finish. The product is still very much there.

Re: Finally stripped the Zaino off and used NanoWa

The polish could have be abrasive enough to remove it. It's made to remove a thin layer of paint, so it might get off the Zaino. If the spots are gone then something got stripped.

afro is right, dawn should not remove the zaino. if it did, the it would mean that zaino has some type of carnuba or wax in it.

it could be that the polish(nanowax) removed the water spots, but i'm not sure if it's intense enough to completely clean your paint.

True... i missed the step of him using polish. That could very well remove the zaino. At the same time, dawn is a lot stronger than the zaino car wash, so that could have removed the spots as well. Who knows... As long as he's happy with the final result.

Re: Finally stripped the Zaino off and used NanoWa

Well, you learn something new everyday. I didn't do any research and just assumed Dawn would strip the Zaino. I guess I was not thinking that day, knowing that Zaino is not wax per say.

I corrected my oversight (unknowingly) when I used the 3M clear coat cleaner on the car. That is the step in the process that actually removed the spotting from my car. I guess it also removed the Zaino. Then I did the polish followed by the NanoWax. The shine still looks good. I am going to do another detailing this weekend with a spray cleanup to see how the Wax job is holding up.

Ahh... yeah, the 3m junk is no joke. That definitely should have taken care of the zaino. Where did you get it BTW?
