Window tinting chemicals

What chemicals if any are used in the application of window tint? I am asking because I took my car in to get it tinted and afterwards I noticed a mark on the rubber seal above the outside drivers side door handle. It looked like some sort of resin or chemical that ate away at the rubber, about 1-1.5 inches long. Thanks

From they few minor tints I've done the instructions indicated some kind of water solution. Nothing harsh and the items were household items. Hell, my dad was given a recommendation to use sprite or 7-up. It didn't really have a better effect either way though.

It's quite possible they burned the molding w/ a heat gun while blowing heat on the exterior part of the glass to dry the film.
