HELP! scratches from debadging
HELP! scratches from debadging
i debadged my g35 letters on my coupe and i followed the method of using the blow-dryer..anyway..i cleaned up the glue by rubbing them off with my fingers. I guess i scratched it so now it seems like there's some scratches on that particular spot. What can i do about it? i washed it and everything so its not some residue and i believe i really scratched it =( please help?

You have to buff those scratches out w/ a buffer/

If you don't have a buffer, try some scratchx by meguiars. You can use it by hand and rub it in one direction (up and down preferably). After you get the scratches out, a good quality wax will probably hide any scratches that are left.

Re: HELP! scratches from debadging
not sure if i did it wrong (i don't think so since its pretty simple...apply on the scratch....let it dry...wipe it off) but seems like not much difference from b4 i using scratch x...i guess i just have to live with it for now...

are you rubbing the scratchx into the paint with a towel? It'll take at least a few minutes of rubbing by hand to notice much of a difference.
Re: HELP! scratches from debadging
Depends on the depth of the scratches. If it's not to deep, a good polish or filler type of wax will probably do the trick. You should have used some adhesive remover to remove the glue residue. The 3M stuff is pretty gentle on paint. It will remove wax, but much better than scratching paint.

i applied the scratchx on the scratch with a applicator....i kinda rubbed it on for like..5 secs...and then left it on for..maybe 15 mins...and then wiped it...did i do it wrong?

takuyaah.....
Depending on how deep the scratch is, you may not be able to remove it completely.
Try rubbing the scratch with some applied pressure in cross cut or diagonal passes. this will help to round out the two edges of the scratch so it will not be as noticeable....then when you wax, it will fill the scratch area providing a better result.......
I can tell you from my own experience just wiping on the polish and lettling it stand will do nothing more than add a layer of protection to your paint.....in order to eliminate the scratch you need to cosmetically remove the surface damage to restore the finish.......
