Some serious BLACK paint surgery!! Before and After

Some of you may have saw my thread a few months ago when I posted pics of my swirls and was a complete NOOB when it came to detailing. Original owner must have washed it with SAND PAPER!!

After practicing and detailing for about 12-14 hours on and off I can now say I’m no longer a Noob. However still not an expert haha.

BIGGEST THANKS TO DETAILED IMAGE, WITHOUT THIS GUY I WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN CLUELESS AND WOULD OF STILL HAD SWIRLS AND SCRATCHES ON MY CAR. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!

I also got some interior products but haven’t had time to detail the interior yet, maybe next weekend.

Here’s what I used for the Exterior, all from Detailed Image.

Lake Country 4 Inch Blue Fine Finishing Pad - 4" 2
Lake Country 4 Inch Orange Light Cutting Pad - 4" 4
Lake Country 4 Inch White Polishing Pad - 4" 4
Lake Country 4 Inch Yellow Cutting Pad - 4" 1
Menzerna Power Gloss - 16 oz
Menzerna Final Polish II (FPII) - 16 oz
Menzerna Intensive Polish (IP) - 32 oz
Blackfire Wet Diamond with Polycharger - 16 oz
Porter Cable 7424XP Random Orbital Buffer

Intensive polish took out about 85 to 90% of the swirls. The power gloss on a yellow pad really helped taking out the deep swirls and scratches.

Here are the 6 steps I did:
1. Wash
2. Claybar (Mother’s Clay bar, didn’t order this I already had it)
3. Menzerna Power Gloss
4. Menzerna Intensive Polish (IP)
5. Menzerna Final Polish II (FPII)
6. Sealant - Blackfire Wet Diamond with Polycharger

HERE ARE THE PICS!! - IGNORE THE POLISH DUST IN SOME OF THE PICS

BEFORE

AFTER

Before left / After right, Only one pass with just the Intensive polish (hood)

Wow...very nice. You had some of the worst swirling I've seen on black paint and got rid of it very nicely. A+.

Excellent turn around on that neglected paint! You certainly passed the n00b status of detailing. Now it'll be easy to maintain your car now that you got the hard work behind you.

Thanks for sharing your experience too.

My car's pretty much in the same condition as yours.

Did you use one of each pad, or do I need to order more?

Wow...just looking at how the paint was before hurts . Very good job on the detailing. It's tiring work, but the results make it all worth it in the end.
