Plan of attack

Finally going to be a break in the weather so I'm going to try to detail my car this weekend. 06 Coupe Liquid Platinum and this is my plan. I've had it for a month and only quick washed it once.

Wash
Clay this is going to take a while...maybe I had my Celica too long and clayed it often enough but I've never felt a car this rough.
SSR 2.5 w/ Lake Country Orange Pad
SSR 2.5 w/ Lake Country Green Pad (if need be heard the paint is soft on these cars though)
SSR 1 w/ Lake Country Green Pad
KAIO by hand
Top with 4* UPP

Been awhile since I've done a full detail...I think I got everything in there. The product choices are stuff I already have and will be using a 7424 to apply. Any opinions or input?

Looks like a solid game plan to me. All of the products are in the proper order and looks good to go. Keep us posted on how everything turns out!

Post up some pics if you can

Well the plan of attack didn't turn out as planned.

It took about 2-2.5 hours to clay the entire thing and it still isn't perfect but the clay was getting bad. I was expecting maybe an hour at the most but the car feels 1000x better. I was going to start polishing but the wife thought I spent enough time on the car. I got up this morning and polished a test panel and I think the combo I mentioned above will work.

I went ahead and put the 4* on this morning but I don't think it cured fully because the paint looks kind of hazy. I still need to put a purchase order in for some items soon as well.

4" pads and backing plate
I need a good LSP for liquid platinum...conditions aren't too harsh here so I don't need supreme durability.
A product for the trim (303 perhaps)
Drying products
Something to clean my wheels. I've seen a couple of posts around here about stained wheels and I bought some Mother's wheel cleaner but kind of hesitant about trying it in fear of damaging the clear coat.

Depending on if your looking for a sealant or wax, I really like Blackfire Wet Diamond for long durable protection and also looks great on any color paint. If you're going for maximum gloss and depth, consider using a wax, but keep in mind they will only last 4 - 8 weeks on average. Waxes can vary in price quite a bit, but some options to look into for your colored paint would be either of the P21S waxes or Blackfire Midnight Sun.

303 does a good job UV protection rubber, vinyl and plastic surfaces. If you are trying to restore trim, 303 won't be your best option, but if you're simply looking to protect the surface without changing much of the finish, 303 is great. If you're looking for an actual trim restorer, Poorboy's World Trim Restorer and Black Wow both work well.

Our DI Waffle Weave Drying Towels are very popular and when used properly, minimize adding any imperfections in your paint while drying your car. Be sure to use the sheeting technique prior to drying your car for maximum results and follow up with a QD and plush microfiber towel to ensure there are no water droplets left behind.

For regular maintenance, I usually recommend just using soap and water during your wash, especially if you have your wheels protected with something like Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant. If you're looking for a safe spray on cleaner, look into Chemical Guys Diablo Gel.

At least you got claying over with, that won't be needed again for quite some time if you properly care for your vehicle.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
