I needed to replace my Optimum spray wax and just saw the Mequires stuff. But I didn't know it was more of a two step. spray on, spread/wait to haze and then wipe of. Other spray waxes are spray and wipe.

Anyone happy with this stuff? I've used it twice and it's not THAT much more work. But is the extra step adding up to more durability? Seems to shine okay. And thankfully doesn't haze up black plastic trim etc.

I get about 4 weeks out of the Otimium spray wax at the most. I hope this stuff lasts that long considering it's one more step.

 

Ultimate Quik Wax (UQW) is Great, I use it.

You can apply in the sun and on anything.

It does have a "cure time" which is a few seconds it will turn hazy. For best results, damp your cloth with the Quik wax and then apply it to the area, then come back with a clean MF Cloth to remove the haziness.

I Normally use it to help seal mothers black to black on plastics, and put them on the tails for the glossy look. You can also put it on your glass like Rain X but it wont last as long.

I use it as a booster sometimes to my NXT Techwax.

Not really sure on the durability, I spray my tails and headlights every time I wash my car.

 

I can spray this stuff on everything also.

 

Mequires stuff is decent !

 

Ultimate Quik Wax is great for what it is. Average durability for me was around 3 weeks. I would say it's a great replacement for the optimum.

 

I used the Ultimate Quik Wax for my windows and door jams so water rolls right off. It not meant to be a "replacement wax" but more of a booster wax between waxings. Plus it smells good.

 

RainX lasts alot longer on glass thought yea its a great booster

 

As an update, I don't think the Meguiars spray on wax does a very good job. For the extra step it takes to apply, it doesn't last as long as the Optimum and doesn't shed water nearly as well. Might try the 3m spray on wax next or just stay with the Duragloss Aguawax

 

I'd stick with the Optimum Spray Wax. Pretty durable for a spray wax.

 

I've been using the Mequires Quick Wax. I'll have to try the Optimum Spray Wax.

I like the idea of spraying/wiping and not having to wait for it to haze.

I did a quick search and price is obviously different:

Optimum Spray Wax- $14.95/bottle
Mequires Quick Wax- $4.74/bottle

Also, I did a search at Autozone, Walmart, PepBoys..is it only available through online retailers?

+1, it's tough to beat Optimum Car Wax in terms of performance on a spray wax. It has ease of use, durability and great water beading. If you purchase in the gallon size, the cost per use goes down significantly.

 

Optimum spray wax was recommended to me by Todd Cooperider, one of the top 10 detailers in the country.

He said if I don't want to buy a nice high quality carnauba wax due to price:

Then optimum spray works well for keeping that micro thin layer of added protection on top of the sealant.

 

The irony is there is NOTHING in that wax or other super high end waxes to justify those insane prices. Plus, they give no better shine or reflectivity than say a $40 wax. However, many will "swear they see a difference" when they really don't. They need to justify paying the RIDICULOUS high prices for some of the waxes. Super high priced waxes generally do NOT make a huge difference considering 90% or more of how a car looks when done detailing it comes from how the paint was prepped. Plus a $200+ carnauba wax wears off just as fast as a $40 carauba wax.

 

........ I use Zymol concourse wax, had you ever felt the painted surface of my coupe you'd change your mind. I only wax my G three times a year, never use anything but cold water to wash her. I also use my Cal duster and detail spray prior to leaving my garage. Quality wax is worth it to me but that's just my opinion and $.... Her name is "Slick" cause she is! LOL

If paint is prepped correctly, most carnauba based waxes will make paint feel slicker than glass. I wouldn't need to feel your painted surface because it doesn't get slicker than mine!
