Finally, a nice long detailed DIY about ONR. I've been using it since it came out but i still cannot get a swirl free wash out of it.

From my experience, some of the key points of a swirl free wash of ONR is to have a bottle of ONR at least at the QD ratio, perhaps a little stronger ready to pretreat the heavier soiled areas. Another big key is to use a wash media, like a grout sponge, that easily releases contmination when you run it against a Grit Guard insert. The dirtier the car is, the more frequent you have to rinse the mitt or sponge. Some paint, especially soft black paint, is still hard to get a perfect swirl free finish, but this technique probably wouldn't add any more than a traditional 2 bucket wash following the proper steps.

Hope this helps.

I can't express it enough, if your car is REALLY dirty, ONR will NOT protect you from getting swirls. Even if it's just salty, your car WILL swirl up if you don't go through a touchless wash first to get as much of the major stuff off as you can.

The thing is, I do use those precautions before using ONR. I use a Lowe's grout sponge with 2 buckets of ONR and a grit guard. Even without much dirt on the panel it still causes a small bit of swirling. Even so, I'll take that over washing my car at the tunnel wash. If i had a hose I'd use a conventional wash over ONR though.
