Megs Sealant Vs Wax
Megs Sealant Vs Wax
I didn't realize I was new to detailing until I read these threads! For years I have used Mothers clay, Megs #7 glaze and Megs #26 carnuba wax with an orbital buffer, but was completely unaware of all the other products and processes out there.
Our local Auto store just started carrying more of Meguires Professional lines and yesterday I picked up Megs #9 swirl remover and the #21 Sealant.
Here are my questions:
1) If I use the 21 sealant after the #9, and the #7, do I still use the #26 carnuba wax?
2) If so, before or after the sealant?
3) What would the benefit of the wax be if using the sealant?
I guess I'm just not entirely clear of the different roles of the sealant and wax...if that makes sense.
Thanks in advance everyone.

As a rule of thumb, after you remove your old wax with your wash, you polish down the clear coat to remove any swirls if necessary, then you seal the car with a sealant, then (optionally) glaze over the sealant, and then wax on top of the glaze/sealant.
The sealant will protect the car up to 6 months, and you will need to glaze/wax every month to maintain the look.
Happy detailing!

Thanks for the help. Just finished and it turned out great! Really happy with the sealant and how easy it was to apply and remove.
I did clay, polish, sealant, glaze then wax. Couldn't be happier with the result.
Thanks again.

Although, it sounds like I don't have to worry much with the swirl remover.
I am not sure about that, though if you have a DA Orbital it should not burn too much clearcoat, I would get a paint depth reading to see before you buff.
