Megs Sealant Vs Wax

I didn't realize I was new to detailing until I read these threads! For years I have used Mothers clay, Megs #7 glaze and Megs #26 carnuba wax with an orbital buffer, but was completely unaware of all the other products and processes out there.

Our local Auto store just started carrying more of Meguires Professional lines and yesterday I picked up Megs #9 swirl remover and the #21 Sealant.

Here are my questions:

1) If I use the 21 sealant after the #9, and the #7, do I still use the #26 carnuba wax?
2) If so, before or after the sealant?
3) What would the benefit of the wax be if using the sealant?

I guess I'm just not entirely clear of the different roles of the sealant and wax...if that makes sense.

Thanks in advance everyone.

As a rule of thumb, after you remove your old wax with your wash, you polish down the clear coat to remove any swirls if necessary, then you seal the car with a sealant, then (optionally) glaze over the sealant, and then wax on top of the glaze/sealant.

The sealant will protect the car up to 6 months, and you will need to glaze/wax every month to maintain the look.

Happy detailing!

Thanks for the help. Just finished and it turned out great! Really happy with the sealant and how easy it was to apply and remove.

I did clay, polish, sealant, glaze then wax. Couldn't be happier with the result.

Thanks again.

It's a lot of work, but all you have to do is look at your car in the end and justify all the work

Grats!

Now pics!!

#9 is a finish polish so will only help with light swirls.

M21 is The pro line of Nxt 2.0, #26 Meguiar’s Hi-Tech Paste Wax

Apply the M21 the sealant then M26 ontop.
or
Apply#7 then M26 ontop

Pics look great!

This weekend I did Nxt 2.0(M21) and Gold Class Paste Wax(M26 consumer product) Looks amazing

How careful do I need to be with cutting compounds on my clear coat with an orbital buffer? The front of the car has been repainted because of stone chips, etc. so not factory clear coat.

Although, it sounds like I don't have to worry much with the swirl remover.

if you move too slow you'll do damage, just keep moving the buffer and don't stay on one spot, and you'll be fine.

I am not sure about that, though if you have a DA Orbital it should not burn too much clearcoat, I would get a paint depth reading to see before you buff.

Great job and very clean ride. No skyline badge, no scion roof, no black housing headlight, no GTR tails overlays. LOL

Very rare to see a car this unmolested. So far its just 3 of us here on driver.
