SWIRLS ON 2 month old black G

I have a lot of swirls on my black g!!! I have applied two coats of crystal guard since i got it, and i wash it once a week. What should i do? I am not a professional but if it takes spending the entire day buffing, i will do it. Or should i take it to a professional, how muck do they usually charge. Any reccomendations in the chicagoland area.

Here in California, swirl removal would cost in the range of $190-$250

I'd imagine that your swirling is coming from they way you wash your car

When washing, make sure everything you use is clean......including the clay.

I'd buy a Porter Cable 7424 and learn to use it. Go to www.meguiars.com , read the forums, ask questions.... You'll pay about the same as one professional detailing, and be able to do it yourself over and over, and save the money....

First try Meguires Swirl Remover... It's only 10 bucks so it's not too big of an investment.

Thanks - Joey Avino

right now, crystal guard won't hide your swirls. hopefully, you weren't cleaning, drying, or applying CG in circular motions. i'd go with jimcambell's suggestion.

Mate, try this..wash your car and dry it. Get it into the garage and apply Meguairs Cleaner/Wax..follow the instructions. Do it twice if need be, this should take care of it. Remember, always up and down motion, never circular.

Meguiars swirl remover does work. The reason I suggested buying a PC (Porter Cable) is that it's VERY difficult to avoid swirls completely. With a PC and routine swirl removing/polishing/waxing, you can keep your car looking it's best. All for the price of a professional detail.

You can get abou tthe same results by hand, it's just a lot more work.

If you have really bad swirls, you might want to try Meguiar's ScratchX. Here's a link on how to use it

www.zaino.ca, or www.zainobros.com. Answers are there. On the subject of microfibre, it's really easy to go astray. Let the microfibre do the work, not you. Takes a gentle hand to avoid swirls with even the best microfibre cloth. Having tried both, I prefer a lambskin mitt for the bulk of my washing, I start from the top of the car (cleanest) and go to the bottom, I use a different bucket and mitt for the wheels and underside, I use the microfibre only to remove bugs and tar and on the lowest parts of the car, and I do a cursory dry with a white terry towel, finishing with a synthetic chamois. As previous posters have indicated, straight lines, not circular motions, always towards the ground (vertically, so light doesn't reflect across the lines- try turning a pair of polarized glasses perpendicular to the ground and you'll see why). I detail with white terry and detailing spray to finish it off (recommend against fabric softeners, both washer and dryer types, when doing your terry towels and other car wash stuff).
Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Derek

I know CG is supposed to be excellent, but it doesn't do anything for the swirlmarks as you now know. I apply the Klasse AIO synthetic wax (which also strips the old wax) 2x/year and then top it with Pinnacle Souveran carnuba wax every 2-3 months. The Klasse AIO synthetic wax is the only one I've found to remove the swirlmarks (or "hide" them - whichever you prefer to call it...the point is, after applying the Klasse AIO, I can't see the swirlmarks any more until they eventually come back). Then, waiting 12 hours and topping it with the Pinnacle Souveran (I just use the Liquid Souveran carnuba wax although the paste carnuba is supposed to even better) is just amazing!

The Klasse AIO/Pinnacle combo gives a black G an unbelievable shine and depth. However, you can't avoid the swirls...they will come back within a couple months, but at least you can keep them at bay for a little while with the Klasse AIO!

Check it out at http://properautocare.com/klaskit.html

Also, you can get a bottle of Klasse AIO synthetic wax for $24.95 and a bottle of Pinnacle Souveran carnuba wax for $24.95.

yoyopol2000... i suggest investing that $50 on zaino. users have been raving about its shine as well as its ability to hide swirls. a lot of carnuba wax users have turned to zaino or CG due to their long-lasting effect in any weather condition. wax-based products, like carnuba, are softer. perhaps you can get those swirls out and use CG (since you already bought that $40+ bottle) or switch to zaino. good luck!
