Well, if you just want to fill/cover/hide swirls, then I say use the Zaino system!

Re: What wax is good for swirl?

I use Zaino on my Obsidian Black G35x - love it. It looks wet when you are done - almost makes you want to dive into your car :-)

If your car has been waxed before with some other wax, first wash it with something like Dawn Dish Soap. Dawn will strip the old wax off without affecting your paint (this is why you should never wash your car with dish soap between waxes - you'll take the wax right off).

After that, I would suggest using the Z5. Because my car is black, I used the Z5 first - it is their swirl and scratch remover polish. I put that on once, and then removed it. Then I put on two coats of the Z2 polish. They say that you can put on up to five coats and notice a difference each time. After that you get to a point of diminishing returns (i.e. you won't notice that big of a difference for the amount of time you put in).

Even after two coats it looked awesome. Didn't have time to do five, but I can't even imagine - better than showroom condition.

You can get it here:

www.zainobros.com

Get it - you'll love it.

Waxes will only fill in the swirls. If you want to remove them, you can try Meguiars ScratchX (hand apply and remove), but this can be a huge job if you are doing the whole car. Another option is to get a Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Polisher (~$150 or so) and use Meguirs #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish. Then wax. Or, you can go to a professional detailer and pay them around $100 - $150 to remove them and try to keep it from happening again.....

jim Mequires makes a swirl remover which is actually very good and can be applied by hand. You should try that before anything. Also Zanio only fills the swirls, they will come back eventually. You're better off sticking to the classis polish, compound, wax, claybar system rather than Zanio and Crystalguard.

Thanks - Joey Avino

I'd disagree on one point- I'd use a polishing compound and claybar, then use CG to avoid swirls alltogether. Done correctly, you'll never need to polish it again, and it'll look like you just waxed it... but for a lot longer.

.....said Geobau, as he goes to the kitchen to put some CG on his salad.

Hah... I haven't been able to CG for a long time. I've been relegated to using Zaino, and I've got to say that even though I like the swirl-filling properties, the protection and longevity really disappoints me.
