I'm looking to polish and protect the exhaust tips and I want to make sure that I'm right in thinking that they are chrome plated. I really don't know the difference in diiferent metal finishes so I wanted to double check.
My goal is to remove the stains and light scratches on the tips and then use a protectant that really shines them up. Any product suggestions would be greatly appreciated. While looking for the perfect product I've learned that certain metal polishes can cause the exhaust tips to yellow over time (if they are chrome). So I want to avoid any product that is too abrasive.

 

I just did a search on this topic which I should have done before posting (I apologize) but it left me a little confused. Someone stated that are exhaust tips are polished stainless steel. Yet a variety of products were recommened as giving good results (i.e. Mother's chrome polish, Mother's mag and aluminum, Never dull, wenol Mother's metal polish, Klasse AIO, Meguiars Gold Class Wheel Cleaner). I'm no genius but how can all these products with different purposes/properties be the right one to use. In other words why use and aluminum polish on chrome? How can this give you the best results. Again, I'm looking for that product that cleans any blemishes and really gives a mirrorlike shine. Thanks in advance.
