Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I heard driving to Vegas puts a LOT of wear and tear on your car. I know driving it in general will wear it down, but are 3-4 hour drives nonstop extra harmful? Am I better off renting or taking the G?

Its fine, only thing is you might want to change your air filter after since its a sandy environment.

I go to Vegas at a minimum of twice a year with my coupe. Had it over heat once, trying to go up hill with 115 degree weather, and A/C on Full blast..

Drove all over Vegas during the over heating trip with no more overheating problems. But when I did get back to SoCal, less than a month after, my thermostat went out. Changed it myself, and BAM! back to normal...

You should be alright though buddy!... Like others have said ^, take it easy on the hills esp with the heat...

Lol why do people think driving here is bad? You won't overheat unless there is something wrong with your car, and its not "sandy" here where you need to change your air filter after 2 days.

haha this thread makes me laugh... Ive driving my car to vegas a few times and never did i do the blue tape....or had over heating issues...etc etc.... But one time I had the clutch issues (from the fluid getting heated from the lines been next to the exhaust)but thats normal .....

Look bottom line...if the cars been maintain...and you dont mind putting MILEAGE on your car..then go for it man. Ive driving my car kinda hard in the heat on the way out there...with a car load... and a/c on with no issues. As long as your car has been maintain your good to go man. you going out there this weekend? I'll be out there.

I got to say the same thing, no reason your car should overheat if properly maintained. If its does then something is wrong with your coolant, etc..

I took my wifes 97 camry with 150k miles with no overheating or problems.
