^^ I sanded my down as well. Work your way up to as fine as possible, plastx it, and polish. Best with a buffer.

Really? sandpaper? Ive only seen that done to cheap cars or cars that are so far gone that you can barely see behind the lense... if your keeping up with your car a simple polish will work no doubt it really shouldnt be a big deal ever unless you buy a car that has already yellowed really bad.

For long-term preventive maintenance I recommend 303 Aerospace protectant once a month

From my experience best is to seal the headlights with something like Blackfire Wet Diamond, Klasse Sealant Glaze, etc. every time you wash the car. Due to the heat the sealant won't last as long as it would on your paint, so sealing them often will keep them protected always.

If/when they start to look yellow, rock chipped, etc., sanding then machine polishing works well. Make sure you know what you're doing it or take it to someone that does though. Oh and once you've "fixed" the lights with sanding and polishing, you've usually taken off any UV protection the plastic was coated with, so you'll need to seal them much more often to keep them fresh.

Hope that helps.

Can you clear bra a headlight, that seems like it would protect it but I don't know about the heat.

That's the exact same thing that's happening to mine. And I can't seem to get it off or go away...

Absolutely Yes. My HLs have clear bra on them and they are great. The clear bra will not cover entire surface but it will cover almost (98%) of the surface of the lens except for some outside area. But well, it is acceptable. And it works well against rocks, weather... I would highly recommend clear bra. My HLs still have the rainbow look (colors) every time I look at it at under sunlight. I still wax them every time I wash my car

I might just sand mine with very fine sandpaper and see if that fixes it. It's likely the clearcoat that is chipping off, so polishing/waxing doesn't fix it. At least, I've tried and it hasn't worked.

But when stripping off the clearcoat, that just means I have to work even harder to keep them in good condition once I sand it down.

Yeah, it's around the edges like yours. Don't wanna use anything too abrasive where it'll take the clearcoat and UV protection off, so like you said, will be harder to keep in good condition. I might ending up using toothpaste myself and see if that'll help.
