frequent cleaning prevents most yellowing.
But it also depends on if your car is garaged or out in the elements and how hot/cold it gets in your area.
I also use car wax on my headlights when I clean my car.

i wouldnt reccomend a clearcoat. usually still yellows and most always chips off!

best solution is keep them clean and fresh wax. perhaps a 3m headlight overlay kit?

its all going to depend on how often your car sees sunlight/adverse weather, what region you are located, if you wash often etc etc.

the main killer is UV light from the sun. some headlights dont yellow for years, some begin to yellow within months

OMG....you NOOBS forgot to mention sandpaper! Your headlight covers will last a very long time by just normal wash and wax. I wouldn't use a cleaner wax just a quality carnauba wax to protect them from the elements.
