Spots on OEM Rims
Spots on OEM Rims
Recently after it had rained here, my rims later had some spots on them. I tried washing them off with soap and water, but the spots seem to be within the finish. Do any of you know of any special cleaners to clean the rims without damaging them ? Thanks.

Re: Spots on OEM Rims
hmm, maybe you can try to claybar them? Some people have used diluted SimpleGreen on their wheels too.
Let us know what works (or doesn't work)!
good luck.

Re: Spots on OEM Rims
I have gotten the same thing on mine as well, but oddly enough, only the 2 rear wheels!!!! Looks kinda like those spots old people get (liver spots I think). Anyway, I only use soap and water on my wheels so I know it wasn't from any chemicals!

I had the dealer try to remove the spots, but they could not remove them. I will try using a clay bar or another cleaner. I'll let you guys know. Likely it happened after it rained here in LA.

Any luck on cleaning the dark runs that seem to sit under the clear coat of the rims? I tried the Meguires Hot Rims Cool Care All Wheel Cleaner to no effect. I have the 05 OEM forged 19's.
I asked the dealer about this and they come across quite a few with this issue... some more severe than mine. Apparently, Infiniti doesn't have a clue and won't warranty it.

Any chance of getting a pic of what you are seeing?
I took my wheels off within 3 days of having ghe car and did a coat of metal polish and sealant on them. I'll be doing the same again before storing them for the winter, and then again next spring before swapping out the winter setup.
The old saying, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure definitely holds true for car care!!!
