Practice practice practice. You can read about detailing for hours a day for years and still have no idea what you're doing the first time you pick up a buffer.

While reading will give you
A better grasp on what professional detailing entails, nothing beats the real physical experience. Professional detailing is a very labor intensive process and puts a toll on the body so make sure you're ready for that as well!

Go to G35nyc.com (I think). They well you everything you need to know, and will ban or harass you for suggesting any other products besides the ones their sponsors are selling.

That's pretty much how every detailing forum is.

what do you guys do with used towels.

Let's say you detailing a car and use a towel to clean windows. Do you toss it or save it for that same procedure for next time?

That's a nice little collection, Mark!

Joker, no need to throw away your used microfiber towels. I personally use CG Microfiber Detergent on all of my towels. Of course if you have contaminated towels that have been dropped on the ground and pick up debris, you want to either wash them separately or pre-soak them in a MF Wash/Water solution to loosen up the dirt. If all the debris still does not come out, then you can either throw the towel away, or use it as an all purpose towel. IE: for cleaning the wheel wells or just using them around the house.

As long as you take good care of your towels, they should last a very long time and be just as plush and absorbent as the day you got them

Yes, you can wash your wax/sealing towels, your polishing towels, your glass, interior, leather. CG microfiber wash is a citrus based cleaner that breaks down the product so it washes out completely. Set your washer to the delicate cycle and an extra rinse. Dry them on delicate and the lowest heat.

You should only be using the towel once then washing it afterwards.

On a normal maintenance wash I typically use 5-6 towels (drying towel, 2 towels for spray wax/quick detailer, 2 for the wheels and 1 or 2 for the glass.

My shelf, which I previously thought was decent, is now designated an atrocity.

I fail.
