how to take "before" shots of car?

how to take "before" shots of car?

i hardly know anything about photography so i was wondering how u guys get the photos to show all the swirls/small scratches on your "before" photos of details..

i dont have a DSLR but my gf's canon g11 is a good camera to work with so any input/advice you guys have would be appreciated. thanks!

Just point and shoot bro I mean you don't have to have an expensive camera to take good pics!

Shine some light into the paint. Find the right angle and take the pic.

this was actually helpful. my biggest issue was getting a light source at the right angle to make the swirls and imperfections visible in photos.. before i was just taking them straight on and you couldn't see anything wrong with the paint..

yeah, take a picture when it's super bright/sunny out. If you still have problems capturing the swirls, get it closer to the shade or under a tree(basically less glare from the direct sun). Overall, you'll just have to experiment.

I've seen pics taken from the Canon G-series...they actually take pretty nice photos for a point&shoot cam.

If you have to try really hard to find the swirls or "imperfections" of the car, then whats the point of a detail since you wont notice it either way...?
