How do you guys take care for your headlights ?

Recently, my friend changed his headlights to 06-07 OEM Projector Headlights.

He is wondering that how can he take care of his lights.

Because his old lights got oxidized (yellowish look on plastic surface) and inside of it have some crystal like thing appear on the inner part of the plastic surface.

Should he buy and apply the overlay decal on his headlights ?

Or is there anyone you can provide those things happens on 03-05 headlights ?

Please let me know if you have any thought or experience for it.

Thank you

They sell it at Advance Auto. Dont know about Autozone.

I personally use Wax.

Anything that will Inhibit UV rays will work.

I use tooth paste with a moist microfiber towel. Rub the toothpaste (1 teaspoon per side), which is a polish anyway, over the headlight for about 20 seconds, then rinse it off well. Once it dries, apply Collinite 845, which is an extremely durable wax/sealant for cars (gives a brilliant but not deep shine). You should be good for about a 9-12 months. The outcome will be identical to Plast-X and other more expensive cleaners.

Good luck.

Thank you for your info, I will let my friend knows about this and I will also try it on my car

By the way what kind of tooth paste should I use ?

Can I use the one that I brush my teeth with or is there any specific brand you will recommend ?

And where can I get Collinite 845 ?

Any toothpaste will do... they all have polishing agents. I've used Crest, Colgate and AquaFresh with identical results.

With respect to the wax/sealant, all you need is a very durable one (e.g., Collinite, Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze,). Collinite 845 you can order off of Ebay, Amazon or Autogeek for <$15 or go to your local auto parts store such as Car Quest (Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, Pep Boys, don't carry it). 1 bottle will do 9-12 coats on your car. It's smooth as butter and buffs out pretty well. I have about 3-4 coats on my car and that should last to the next ice age.

This....^....is the correct response! Quality wax is all your headlights will need, and you shouldn't use anything else like other members have posted.
