Ok so I met this kid the other night at a car meet and notice his xb had a horrifically oxidized hood and I mean OXIDIZED. He said he's had it on the car for 5 or 6 winters so that would explain it. I told him I do detailing and I'd be happy to fix his hood and he of course said yes. So he came over Saturday morning and I fixed his insane oxidation.

Since it was so bad I went with Meguiars Ultimate Compound on a orange LC pad followed by Megs 205 on a white lc pad. I then applied BFWD and then BFMS. I was very impressed with how crystal clear it came out and the owner was floored too.


Here's a pic before looking down at the hood. You can kind of see my silhouette but just barley it was that bad.


The oxidation was SO BAD there was no reflection at all.



Now here's the hood half polished





All finished. The very top of the hood was pretty bad as in the gel coat had started to eat away but over all it's a night and day difference.

sorry for the ignorance, what is BFWD and then BFMS?

Also did you go by hand or use a powered polisher/buffer?

My truck is real bad, with 'baked on dirt' that I can't get to wash off lol. My G is lookin good though
