Will parking a car outdoors vs. garage yield any differences over time?
I'm curious if the quality of the paint will be compromised if a car isn't housed under a roof and is constantly parked outside? Will the clear coat wear away? Or will the weather put wear and tear on the overall "Look"/chine of the car/paint?
Thanks
Thanks
If you have a show quality car polish/protectant such as Zaino, and you wash your car regularly, there won't be a significant difference in the finish after several years. A quality protectant has UV and other filters to keep sun damage at a minimum as well as protect against acid rain, bird droppings, mineral deposits, and other chemical threats.
If you are using just a plain jane wax and aren't obsessive about keeping the car clean then I would try to store inside if at all possible.

Yes! major differences. Cars parked indoors retain the paint quality much longer than cars parked outdoors. The UV rays of the sun break down the paint over time. I have personally tested this in the past 20 years and now I always park my vehicles in a garage when not being used.
Absolutely a difference.
I had traded a '97 Mustang GT in on my Coupe a few months back. Dark Blue paint looked as good as the day I bought it as it was garage kept both at home and in a covered garage at my office building. Constantly received comments on how "new" the car looked because the paint was nearly flawless... not bad for a 7 year old car.
Now if only the paint on the G was as strong as it was on the Mustang... still suffering from the paint chips that are nearly impossible to prevent on these things (unless you leave a mile between you and the car ahead of you)...

There will surley be a difference in the amount you wash your car since it will always be in the elements, and of course the interior will get much more abuse from the sun unless you are parking in the shade.
I would suggest that you wax the car at least 4 times per year depending on the wax and wash the car once a week and follow up with a spray detailer that contains carnuba wax if that is what your using or something like Z6 if your using Zaino.
Overall your answer is yes, it will affect your car more if it is not in a garage.
