Looking for that great polished mirror look

I've seen a few Gs on here that just looked phenomenal. Most were OB but i was wanting that same mirror finish for my 2003 DG. I don't necessarily have the time, equipment or patience I fear to do this. Sounds like it's a very long process so i googled car detailers in my area this guy is local to my parents house i can just drop it off and borrow their car one day to go to work... what do you guys think of this guy's services? 20+ years experience and "I have a full knowledge of all the detailing tools and products it takes to make you car look its best. Additionally, with my family in the auto detail supply business, I always have access to the best products on the market."

Super Detail
Full service hand wash, all exterior cracks and crevices cleaned, rims are power washed clean. Thoroughly vacuum interior seats, cracks, and crevices, as well as trunk. Then, a 4-step cleaning process: Step 1 is a compound of the whole car to remove scratches and faded paint. Step 2 is a claybar of the car to remove all surface debris, Step 3 is buff finish with a polish to remove tough scratches and swirls. step 4 is buff to a fine shine with carnuba wax. Clean door jams, hood and trunk jams. Shampoo seats and shampoo carpets, if leather clean and treat, clean all interior trim and condition. Clean all windows in and out, and dress tires and exterior trim. Includes engine clean.

Small Vehicle-$135.00 Medium Vehicle-$150.00 Large Vehicle $165.00

this is a very good deal! the only thing i dont agree with is his compound then clay process. it should be the other way around!.

anyways, if you do get it detailed by that guy, make sure you maintain it. I would go to autozone and buy a high quality microfiber and some instant detailer, (mother's works best) then just use it in case you get bird crap or something on your car.

Yeah I thought it was: wash, clay, compound (aggressive - if needed followed by a fine compound), sealant, then apply last step products (e.g. Glaze, wax).

I would never allow anyone using this....^....process near SLICK! Why would you use compound or are you refering to cleaner which is done after you use the claybar and wash? You don't just clean door jams, hood and trunk areas, they need to be cleaned and polished too! I won't mention how long I've been detailing my cars but the best process I've found is using Zymol clay, cleaner and their Concourse wax....nothing comes close!

My advice to you is to not let this retard touch your G. With 20+ years experience, he doesn't know you clay before you hit the car with compound? Run the other way...

I just recently detailed my car:
1. Wash
2. Iron-X treatment (only because the previous owner let crap build up on the paint.)
3. Clay bar
4. Z-PC Fusion on a yellow LC pad
5. 1 coat Zaino Z-5 polish
6. 1 coat Zaino Z-2 polish
7. Wash in a week

Now, I'll only apply a couple coats of polish every few months or so because my smooth paint is locked in.

I could film a video in my paint and you'd never know. DON'T let this idiot touch your car!

Plus, detailing with some beer in some sunny weather is a great way to relax I'd recommend doing it yourself.

thanks guys i think i might just do it myself, i tried to polish my wheels w/ the mothers power ball and that took forever and i didn't quite get the results i wanted got kinda discouraged, they looked a lot better but i think they need to be refinished. So i hope it goes better than that! I'll definitely try those steps and any other products/tips you got keep'em coming. I think my dad has an electric buffer thing are those bad to use?

Random orbital buffers will help you a ton during the compounding step. My preference is to always apply polish or wax by hand.

check out detailedimaged.com

they have good information. i heard that the random orbital buffers are powerful and that the dual-action buffers are more noob friendly.

You can check out autopia.org, lots of good info there. There's also a find a detailer section on the site that has mostly good detailers.

A good detail will run you around 300+ for a good, proper polishing process for the exterior to properly remove the swirl marks. The simplest way I describe it to my clients is to imagine a puddle, with the surface flat and undisturbed, it has a crystal clear reflection. However, add ripples, aka swirl marks to the reflection and it becomes distorted. A proper polishing will leave the paint completely flat, resulting in the mirror finish you're looking for.

If you want to, you can also purchase everything on your own and do it yourself. It's not too hard and will run you 400-500 for supplies to do a proper paint correction and exterior process, and you everything you buy will last you a while so you can also detail friends cars to make your money back and even profit if you choose.

Best of luck

Check out www.griotsgarage.com they sell a kit that comes with everything you need to detail your cars for the next 20 years....buffer/clay/cleaner/polish/car wash soap and all the towels you'll need for the next year. They even throw in a vid that shows you step by step how to get the best results all for less than $200. You'll never consider having someone detail your cars again!
