I use to own a detailing company in Houston,tx but now here in long beach,CA. To price a Clay bar service should be around $250 for cars and $400 for larger vehicles. Remember your doing the whole car/suv/truck meaning washing first, clar bar, compound, hand spread wax or cloth spread. Clean the engine bay, restore all plastics, I also clay bar the rims if its painted with car paint like mine and wax.

Clay Bar Prices
Clay Bar Treatment can take time depending on how bad their paint is. It also might need several clay bars for different levels of contaminates (Heavy-Medium-Light clay bars) If the paint is really bad, you start with a Heavy Clay Bar to remove the harder larger contaminates and move down to a Medium Clay Bar once its smooth and you will notice how the Medium Clay Bar removes what the Heavy Clay Bar could not. Proceed with the Light Clay Bar if the Medium Clay Bar isan't removing the smallest contaminates.
Prices: Most professional Detailers charge $25-$50 per hour and that depends on just how detailed they really are. The better at (paying attention to the smallest detail) the Detailer is, the more they charge. Then we charge for the service it self. Clay Bars are $25 each for Light' Medium and Heavy. If your using all three, I charge equal to what each Clay Bar cost, then we charge our (hourly rate) for the service it self. Usually depends on the size and condition of the vehicle and demographics of where you live. For where we live, we charge between $40-$50 per hour.
PRICES:
- Charge for the price of each clay bar you use: (Heavy-Medium-Light) is $75 for all three.
- Charge your hourly rate: $25-$50 an hour. We don't pro rate the hours. So if it takes 30 minutes, we still charge our hourly rate. If your only spot claying, then pro-rate your hourly rate.
You dont have to explain to your customers how much you get for your hourly rate. All you have to do is explain how their paint needs clay baring before you apply wax or hit it with a buffer. Tell them you would rather not apply wax or hit their paint with a buffer because if you do it will scratch their paint, So clay bar treatment is a must if they want their paint to look its best.
