Waxing with an electrical buffer.

Waxing with an electrical buffer.
Has anyone ever used an electrical buffer (similar to the professional ones used at a car wash or professional detailing place) to wax their car?
I am thinking about purchasing one. However, I know they are kind of expensive and wanted to know how well they work.
If you have bought one of these machines, please tell me where you bought it from and for how much. Thanks.

Be sure to only get an orbital type machine. Many have rave reviews about the porter cable. I just picked up the cyclo, dual head random orbit polisher, counter roatating heads (commercial grade - once in a lifetime purchase) from www.detailingdynamics.com I got the premium kit which included the polishes n sealents, foam pads, MF towels, etc etc. I paid about $350 for everything delivered. The Porter cable runs in the low 100's and then you would have to buy the pads chemicals etc. Probably run somewhere a lil over $150 all said and done. I recently used the Cyclo on my G and it worked great. Especially for the first time using it. It's a lil heavy, but again it's a commercial machine.

As others have suggested, I recommend a Porter Cable Random Orbital polisher. I have the 7336 which is the same as the 7424 except has a different counter-weight...7336 is compatible with 6"-6.5" pads, 7424 is for 5" pads...you can swap out the $3 counter-weight on either one. I bought it at Lowes for around $100.
As long as you use the correct pads, it's pretty worry-free. Check out autopia-carcare.com for some good tips on how to use the polisher. Just get a backing plate (has velcro on it so you can swap pads easily) and foam pads. Backing plates probably run about $15 and pads run around $12. You probably also want a microfiber bonnet if you wanna use the polisher for applying polish, but just check the various detailing sites and they'll be able to recommend the correct stuff.
Hope this helps.
