Porter Cable 7424

Where in the world can I get the Porter CAble besides ordering it on-line. I looked at Lowe's and Home Depot, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I live in the Chicago area. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks everyone!

From what i've read on other posts the Porter Cable 7336 is equivalent to the Porter Cable 7424. The only difference is the 7336 has a different counterweight to hold a 6'"-6.5" pad...whereas the 7424 holds a 5" pad. The 7336 is found in Lowes for about $99. I'm looking to get the same thing. Hope this helps!

Oh and by the way the counterweights are interchangeable

Is one better then the other? I figure if I am going to splurge on getting a PC, I might as well get the better one. Gracias!

They're actually they same machine. I compared it on the Porter Cable site. I also read in another post was that the numbers are just different b/c the manufacturer doesn't want you to comparison shop...Check out the thread by BlackonBlackG35 in this forum...I believe it was title removed swirls or something like that. He uses a 7336(7424) he has pics on how his car looks. You can judge from there...Good luck on your decision!

Here's a link to a pretty good article on the Porter Cable machines.

www.autopia.org is good resource for learning more. they are the same machine as others have pointed out. you can buy the counterweights if you want to change the 7336 to a 5" counterweight. but from what i've read on the autopia forums, the 6"/5" counterweight is not going to change anything.

i just did a 99 black accord w/ a ton of marring/spiderwebs w/ the 7336 i got from lowes. came out great.

When i buy mine i plan to buy the ones from meguiars or from that article in the post...I woudn't skimp on the pads if you know what i mean...It could have very bad reprecussions to your paint. Ya feel me?

I think you'll have a tough time finding the correct, high quality pads in local stores, unless it's a store dedicated high-end detailing supplies. Do some research (on this forum, autopia forum, roadfly forum, and I think punchit sells lots of high-end stuff and has a website) to find out what pads will work best for what you want to do. You went to the effort to get the machine, but it will be wasted effort and money if you don't use the right pads.

do a search in the yellow pages for auto paint and supply places in your area. They'll sell most of the products you need/want. Sherwin Williams Auto paint supply places are around as well. Just do a search on their site for places.

Good to see another Griot's user

Nice to see someone else here who uses Griot's products. Zaino and Meguiar's seem to get most of the attention. I've been using the Best of Show wax for about 8 years and once I learned not to apply it so thickly have been very happy with it.

These Porter Cable Polishers ROCK . I purchased the PC 7336 a few weeks ago.
I used it to wax the hull of my boat today and Wow, just awesome, huge time saver and effortless. When I was finished the boat I looked at my older Black Z71 and thought why not, I couldn't resist, I did the tailgate in a flash just to try it and once again impressive. I'm going to get lots of use from this new tool. No excuses for not having a well waxed boat ,truck and G35 from now on .
