Unhappy Help I got wax on the black plastic?

OK, I don't think it was me, I've only ever let my car be wash by someone other than me twice and I have regretted it both times. Anyway I have wax residue on the black side mirror supports. Any ideas on getting it off of there? I tried Dawn without any luck and Amoral only lasts for a day or two. Do I need to get them repainted or is there an easier solution?

thx,
Chris

I suggust the "Quick Detailer" sprays such as Mequiars Quick Detailer, the "Wet Look" one by EagleOne, and the like. The Mequiars Quick Detailer spray actually says on the label that it can be used for this.

Give it a try. A bottle is only $5-$6. You may need to do it a few times over a few days to completely get it off, but I'm sure it's possible. I had a similar problem on a previous car of mine where a detailer got polish/was on the black plastic trim and I eventually got it off with the Quick Detailer.

Good Luck!

Try a good quality wax remover. There are chemicals sold in auto body supply shops but a goof off or similar should work. Be sure to test a small area first. I would reco the plastic under the mirror. Be sure it doesn't stain the plastic. If it doesn't, it shouls work great at taking the wax residue off!

I stained my mirror supports more than a year ago. To this day, it is still stained. I tried cleaners, plastic cleaners/polish. Nothing seemed to matter.

If anyone has any idea pls. let us know.......

Yeah, I don't let people touch my car. Try using Klasse next time you wax...its really easy to use and I can do a full wax job in an hour with it.

Thanks, I'll try out some of these ideas and post the results. As for detailing spray I only use Zaino products but I haven't tried the detailing spray on it. I think I'll give that and some of the other products a try. I think it was actually the dealership that waxed my car against my wishes that caused this. Ever since that incident I've had wax drips in several crevasses around my car. Zaino never did this when I clean it myself.

I used 303 Aerospace Protectant on mine and it worked pretty well.

I had wax on that rubber too, zaino perfect tire shine gets rid of that and makes that rubber thing loot wet-cool. I treat every rubber with the tire shine (sun roof rubber, trunk rubber, door rubber-where window meets rubber and arround). That makes the rubber not crack and makes it look good too.

Yeah, I love how Zaino makes my ride look like it's covered in wet nail polish.
Zaino's never let me down so I'm liking the tire shine idea. I'll go pick up some today. The Zaino Bros distributor in LA is 1/2 a block from my work.
