salt

I'm in the Navy and I park my G35 next to a pier overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I was told that the salt from the sea water will ruin the paint/car. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if so, what can I do to protect my G35 from the element if I can't park it anywhere else? I also use Meguiars NXT wax, would that protect the paint at all?

I'd be interested in the answer to this based on current paints and construction techniques. As a Retired Submariner, I can absolutely assure you that years ago the salt environment caused terrible frame and body corrosion problems and caused seemingly irreparable damage to the body paint. I suspect that your shipmates may be an excellent source of info on this.
