Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard applic

Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard Quick application

Introduction:

This posting has been reviewed by the folks at Crystal Guard who tested these instructions on an available vehicle. They found increased brilliance as measured by their gloss meter. I am a skeptic at heart, but found that Crystal Guard was not only extremely easy and quick to apply, but produced an outstanding shine. While these instructions I devised will involve a little extra effort on your part, I know that you will be especially pleased with the end results this extra effort produces. The instructions below assume that you have thoroughly washed and dried your vehicle.

Application of water with Crystal Guard Quick. The ratio of water with the Crystal Guard application can be critical. You really don’t need to use a lot of water. I recommend that you consider purchasing a small 12 oz. spray bottle that produces a fine mist. Rite Aid stores appear to be everywhere, and they have a small spray bottle (Model 1152) that is ideal for this situation. But any small bottle that produces a fine spray would be satisfactory.

By using this spray bottle, you are not diluting the effectiveness of the Crystal Guard as would be the case by leaving your auto covered with water from the garden hose. Use your spray bottle to moisten a small area, then spray the Crystal Guard over the same area. You want to work with small areas at a time, and not allow the Crystal Guard water mixture to dry out. I would suggest that you use two Micro Fiber cloths, one to spread out the water/Crystal Guard, and then follow up with a dry Micro Fiber cloth about 30 seconds later. Remember, this is NOT wax, and hard rubbing is not required nor recommended.

What kind of water to use? Again, these instructions are designed to produce an outstanding shine on your vehicle pride and joy. It is my recommendation that you use carbon filtered water in the spray bottle. Such water can be obtained at any major grocery store. Stay away from most bottled water where they claim it comes from mountain streams. While it may taste very good, it probably contains small mineral deposits which we are attempting to avoid. Brita also makes small pitchers containing carbon filters to filter your home tap water for placement in your refrigerator. Why am I recommending that you go to this extent to produce an exceptional shine on your vehicle? To verify the importance of this recommendation, try this. Leave some of your garden hose water on your vehicle for several hours, and then observe what is left behind when the droplets have evaporated. Little rings of mineral. This is the stuff you remove when you carefully chamois your vehicle after a wash. I am just suggesting that you start with super clean water to achieve superior results.

A very satisfied Crystal Guard user. CA_Kid

Do you recommend I do my best in getting the swirls out of my car before I apply CG?

Thanks - Joey Avino

If you're fussy about the water you use, you should consider distilled water which is available by the gallon at most pharmacies. You're right about most bottled waters though. Most actualy have a high mineral content than even your tap water. Some even have more minerals added in to improve the taste and for supposed health benefits.

Re: Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard applic

Well, I just tried CA_Kid's "Exciting New" method for applying Crystal Guard Quick, and I'm happy to report that it works as advertised. My car looks terrific (sorry, no pics; I don't have a digital camera).

It took somewhere between 1.5 & 2 ounces of CG Quick to do the entire car, including windows & wheels. For water, I used distilled water from Wal-mart (57 cents/gallon).

Since this is the first time I've used CG Quick (my G is is less than 2 weeks old), I can't compare the Exciting New method to the original method of application, but reading about others' experiences on this board, it certainly sound like the new method used a lot less CG Quick than the old method would have.

It'll be interesting to see how the application holds up over time.

Re: Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard applic

what is the thought to applying CG to a car that has been teflon treated?

Bought CG for the minivan and the car came treated with a teflon based product. Will it do any good or should i wait 6 months?

Re: Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard applic

Hi Buddy,
Should the first micro fiber cloth be wet or damp? Should I clay bar first? O.K. to put over Teflon application?
Thanks,
Michele

Re: Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard applic

The microfiber that you use to "spread" it should be damp. Spray water and a tad of CG on it, then use it to spread around what you've sprayed on the car. Claybar first, yes, it's always a good idea to get all the contamination off the paint before you do. Also, Dawn it to make sure you get any residual wax, etc. that's been previously applied. As for the Teflon coating, I'm not sure how durable it is, but it doesn't hurt to throw CG on it. All the best,

Re: Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard applic

I bought the entire CG package about 5 months ago. I have since put CG quick on twice...Should I wash my G35 with Dawn if I have the complete CG on it or will this take away the coat that has set in. Thanks

Re: Exciting new instructions for Crystal Guard applic

You can just add a new coat. Might want to claybar, though.

Nobody uses the CG wash???

I CG'ed my G sedan for the first time this past weekend...I dawned it first and rinsed completely. Then I came back with the CG wash/microfiber panel by panel and rinced again then came the quick/water mix from spraybottle w/ microfiber... I let it sit for a minute and wiped it off...my car looked fantastic!!! Would have taken pics of our clear blue sky reflected from the hood, but my neighbors were out...they already think I'm annal about this car:>) Total time to wash and apply this first time...about 2.5 hours with most of the time spent on that friggin' break dust!!! Love CG...

I would, but it's illegal to wash your own car in Vegas now.
