What is it and where can I get it?

Is it just car wash soap? Or something else?

Dishwashing detergent. You can grab it at any local supermarket. We talk about it like it's magic... but it's just next to the Palmolive.

And when we say Dawn, we mean Dawn. Not Palmolive, not Joy, not the supermarket generic brand.

When they say, "Dawn takes grease out of your way," they're not kidding. That stuff cuts through the natural oils in your hand, motor oil, car wax, you name it. Strips it all away without harming the paint. After using it, you'll need to wax your car (and probably put lotion on your hands).

The car-wash soaps that you buy in the automotive section are designed NOT to strip the wax off the car. (Normally that's a good thing.)

I actually use dawn to wash my greasy hands after workin on a car. works better then most hand cleaners. and cheaper too!

 

And if the Dawn isn't getting into all the little creases of your hand, dump a teaspon of sugar on your soapy hand and rub some more. It acts as an abrasive for about 10 seconds (then it sort of dissolves).

Naw, sugar substitues are pretty fine-grained powders. Not much abrasive action there.
