Clear Bras - Do they yellow with age?
Anyone had a 3M clear bra for more than a year who can confirm or deny the rumor that they start to yellow with age?

I had my clear bra done recently and I asked this to the guy doing the install. He told me that it shouldn't turn yellow but there is a 5 yr warranty from 3M which I think covers this.

5 year warranty,
How do they replace it? Isn't it like bonded to the paint surface? Will they have to repaint those areas? Get a copy of the warranty before install to read carefully. Not the flyer but the actual contract to be sure

The 3M product will apparently yellow after a few years, especially noticeable on white and silver cars (mine's white, but I figure it's still worthwhile).
The product made by Avery has less dealers and is harder to find. It is supposed to be more resistant to yellowing.

Yes, it'll discolor.......if you don't clean and treat it regularly. The clear bra have microscopic pores exposed. If the bra does not get cleaned AND treated properly and regularly, it'll discolor/yellow mainly from road grease/petroleum base dirt/chemical sticking and baking into the pores. My customers has been receiving sample bottles of 303 after each install. Here's the link to what 303 is:

There are basically 3 main paint protection film(clear bra) manufacturer:
3M- best shine, hard to work with, shouldn't be use on light color
Avery- close to 3M's shine, manageable, can be use on most colors
VentureTape- not shiny, but CLEARest, manageable, can be use on most colors, BUT too many defects for installers
There bulk rate price difference is just +/- 10%.

The Installer who did my car said that this really shouldn't happen, and that the kit comes with a 5 year warranty against yellowing??? Call him, if you or anyone else needs their car done. He does mobileinstalls between NY to Florida. 1(866) 444-6888. He did my G35 Coupe, and it looks beautiful. Hardly noticeable at all. You have to be like 2 feet away to even see the faint line.

They can be easily replaced without paint damage. Trust me on this.
