Tinting cost

Re: Tinting cost
yeah, I shopped around and ended up paying 220 for 5 windows plus using the 3m product. I got qouted at a popular place 75 bucks higher and they tried to charge me 50 more for using 3m because it's garaunteed not to fade.
This guy only uses that product and I have lifetime garauntees on bubbling, peeling and fading.

Re: Tinting cost
paying $300 for any car tint job is just crazy....i rather spend the extra $$ on a air intake....huper optik is not a ceramic-base, it is graphite-base....all graphite film manufacturers offer only 5 yrs warranty because during the films last two yrs (depend if the car is left in the sun day in day out) the films developes a ghosting effect where the film was heat shrinded....go check the H. Optik warranty card, 5 yrs only

Re: Tinting cost
I went in and talked to the people at Mr. Tint. They dropped the price to 300 for the seven windows. I have called around and I know I can get it done cheaper. The thing is that you pay for what you get within reason. I have seen some really bad jobs. I want a proffesional look.

Re: Tinting cost
My G was already tinted by the dealer, $299, 3M ColorStable, guaranteed not to fade, lifetime, it would have been maybe $50 less if I had taken it myself to the same place, and by the time I rented a car while they did it, it would have been close to the same price, so, I was cool with the price!

Re: Tinting cost
I just had my windows tinted from the contractor that Niello Infiniti uses (in the Bay Area). He's been in business for 10+ years, and he charged $180 for the rear 5 windows. He and the Infinito dealer recommend the Solargard product in what he called 'medium' tint. Not sure what % it is, but it's plenty dark. The only weird thing is that driving at night, the rear defroster lines refract car lights, and it's kinda nasty looking. All blurry. Hard to spot the CHP's.

That's okay, you'll get used to that, my Mustang vert was like that too, got used to it in short time, the G is a tad busier with the antenna and all, not much else the can do with those elements! Be thankful there is no large area of dots!

Re: Tinting cost
From what i heard...The thing about Mr.Tint, the Co. is that one, they have lots of cheap laborers on a salary base. Whether they do 10 cars or one car it is the same pay. And they always have someone new on the training working on someone car. Two, they used computer to cut the films. The average job usually take about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs.(kinda quick) Three, they advertise one file adn install another cheaper brand that last 3 to 5 yrs. They are betting on that the customers would sell their cars by then. And if a there is a claim....more cheap labor and more cheap film to the recue.

Re: Tinting cost
CERAMIC, another form of advertising...Galle, do you see any car advertise on the site w/ ceramic film? http://www.huperoptikusa.com/products_ceramic.cfm ...If they do have it for cars check if the film have any warranties more than 5 yrs. Why 5 yrs. you asked.... because w/in 5 yrs the heat shrunken area of the graphite film (ceramic) will have white ghosting effect.... and for the ceramic/graphite thing, both films shrink and later on fade out in similar fashion.... thats why i think its graphite...for flat glass there are no heat gun involve to form fit the curve.... so no ghosting...the flat glass films will fade evenly w/out being too noticeable.....the patents for the NASA Mylar space film had long past....every film co. and their mom used the same process to manufacture films....all they have is advertising to differentiate themselve
