No Bullshit I want a new Gun
My house got broken into while i was at work today. My finacee was at her moms house fourtanetly. Does anyone have any for sale? I want a 9mm but I'm willing to get something new, i currently have a .22. let me know guys, its to the point i dont want to leave her alone in the house we have some hoodlums that moved in across the street. thanks guys
sorry your home got broken into man.. There's no greater feeling of violation..
9mm is only going to **** someone off, and not stop them.. You should look into getting a .40 caliber.. I have a Glock 23C w/ ported barrel (fire comes out of the top, good for rapid fire) and a H&K .40 caliber w/ modified trigger (longer trigger pull, so have to pull the trigger all the way back before it fires). Good for the Mrs to have in the house so if she thinks she sees a burglar and it's actually you, she'll have time to back off the trigger..

Little overkill but it will get the point across

With the right ammo, a 9mm (even a .22) could be deadly. Its all about shot placement. For home defense, get a shotgun (short barreled) and fill it with some safety slugs. Another good option is making your first shot buck shot, and your second shot a slug. Take general aim with the buckshot to slow the intruder down then take good aim and finish them with the slug. No matter what the weapon, you take a chance of the ammo leaving the house and killing a child in the house next to you, so only shoot if your life is in danger.
Does Texas have a castle doctrine? In VA, I would go to jail for shooting someone that was simply breaking into my house. We can only shoot if we have no retreat and our lives are in danger. Another thing to think about.

yeah its the stupid castle doctrine here. What pisses me off is we have witnesses that saw who did it and I cant't do **** it was the stupid hoodlums that moved in across the street. They came knocking on the door but my fiancee didnt open and as soon as she went to visit her mom they broke in. I wanna go **** them up so bad but i can't, it ****ing sucks knowing who robbed you and not being able to do anything other then let the cops do their bs job
all the best!
We are actually looking into that, she wanted to get them installed a while back but my stubborn *** said it was a waste of money. We are probably going to get the motion sensor ones. What pisses me off is this is money i did't have/want to spend. I dont live in the hood but the hood comes to you and those kids(by kids they are 14-17) come around flashing guns , we dont have a homeowners association so we cant make them leave. I'm just worried they will retaliate because the cops came and took a report
The castle doctrine is on your side. It is much more lenient when it comes to intruders in your home. It states your home if your "safe haven" if you will. Virginia does NOT have a castle doctrine.

Plus, a 12 or 20 gauge with a wide shot pattern will have less chance of going through a wall to possible harm anyone other than the intended (such as children in next bedroom) than bullets from a handgun. Also, familiarization with the shotgun can be slightly less than a pistol. Hopefully, just racking the shotgun will do the trick, but if you need to pull the trigger, all you really need to do is point in the general area and you're more likely to get a hit (or at least scare the bejeesus out of them).
Either way, she needs to be comfortable with ANY gun you posess. Take her out shooting and let her get VERY familiar with it. Because, when someone is in your house, it changes everything. Fear and anticipation will trigger the fight or flight syndrome. If she (or even you) are in fear for your life and safety, you (or she) will not handle a gun (or even remember you even HAVE one) the same as if you're at a shooting range. Have her do some drills with it, such as: she hears a noise, so the first thing to do is reach into the drawer or under the bed, get the gun and be ready (just to make sure she wasn't dreaming). Listen... if nothing else, she may turn on light and wait to see if something stirs... if something does and she's sure it's an intruder, have her come up with a cool saying (something out of the movies, lol) and rack the shotgun or chamber the first round... etc. Use your imagination.
Bottom line is, it doesn't do any good to own a gun if you aren't prepared to use it. You could hurt yourself or someone not intending to. Education is the key to gun safety (and use).

i got a 9mm glock 17 4th gen... has never been shot, waiting for someone to break into my house, all three clips are loaded with hollow points, one clip already loaded just need to **** back and fire. ive already taught my girl to load and reload and how to shoot.
It's pretty ignorant to trust a gun you have never shot with your life. I bought a Taurus that was so off from the factory it would shoot a few feet to the left before I adjusted the sights. Might want to go get some practice on that gun. A few feet could be out the window and into your neighbors house instead of in the burglars chest.
Never a good idea to have a gun in the house that you have never shot before. You need to take it to the range and fire it a few times.
