The Flip

Wondering if anyone on here's gotten one, and if so, what you think about it.. Any shortcomings? I'm seeing a LOT of practical use.. Maybe a game changer in consumer video. This is somewhat an ipod of video to me..

The Flip

Looking at the UltraHD.

Damn I thought you were talking about flipping houses! I can definitely help you out there

I go back and forth on the flip for a video recording device, they are definitely very portable and quite inexpensive when comparing to current day HD camcorders ... however I just picked up my first Canon HD Camcorder and there are certain things that these offer that a flip doesn't.

The flip has no [optical] zoom capabilities and no image stabilization which comes in really handy while zoomed.

Overall the ease of use certainly makes it a great product although now that I have my Canon HF20 I don't see a need for one personally.

The Flip isnt for me. I am happy with the videos I can take w my Blackberry.
For me, it isnt anything like an ipod. I can see myself listening to music on my ipod for 4 straight hrs on a plane or something. Cant see myself shooting videos like that.
I guess its good for families with babies or young kids or pets, who wana capture every moment they can with ease.

I don't think its even supposed to compete with an iPod or Blackberry. It's a subcompact HD camcorder. It's target in my opinion is for people that want to capture moments when they're out & about, who don't want to lug around a big camera.

I think it's real target is for people to share stuff on social media networks along with Youtube.

Agreed Will.. I was alluding to it's ease of use as far as the iPod comparison.. This is a camcorder for convenience.. And the blitz of people to social media sites has DEFINITELY been a contributing factor to the popularity of this personal camcorder device, or PCD as I've termed it..
