245/35/19 rears?

Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to run 245/35/19's in the rear (on stock 19")? My rears are currently 245/40/19 and they are bald - but I have a set of 245/35 sitting in my garage.

Thanks guys.

I'd just think you'd have a little rougher ride.. I don't think it's going to not work or anything.. You'd just possibly feel the road more.. Much like if you rocked a 30 side wall tire, vs a 35 in the rear on a 20" rim..

PM Waijai and R1Forever80 for prices on tires.. I know they can get them.

+1 what to Tony said plus it will throw off your speedometer, it wont be accurate (from what I have read on this forum).

well, i'm showing the yellow "low tread" indication lines on the rears, so they definitely need to be swapped temporarily. i just wanted to make sure it wouldn't mess my ride up.

Well upgrading from a 19" to a 20" ride will throw off your spedometer like 3% is what I've heard as well, so I've been affected for a while now.. I think you'll be fine bro.. Especially if it's just temporary. I don't think its anything to really worry about. I personally think rolling around on a bald tire is a lot more dangerous than worrying about a smaller sidewall or the negligible discrepancy of the spedometer.

agreed. i need to eventually buy a full new set of 4 (since i had to replace just the fronts due to the previous alignment screwup when i first got the car from the dealership) so i'm already driving on mismatched front vs. rear. the tread life on the rear set that i have in the garage is almost new, so i'll rock those until i can get a new full set of 4.

Won't mess anything up but assuming you're running the OEM-size 225/40-19 fronts (or did you have them replaced with a different size?), your rears will be about 1/4" smaller in diameter and that might look kind of odd.

I'm rockin' 35's all the way around with no problems. Not sure what the difference in ride is because I bought the car with these, but it doesn't seem bad to me. Just be a lot more aware of potholes.

If you aren't showing threads and your getting new tires soon anyway I'd keep them on for the time being.

But running a 35 side wall won't really change anything.
