My350Z vs. G35Driver

Will, you can close this if you want, but I just have to say it since you closed the last thread....

I think Will closing the thread about My350Z illustrates perfectly the level of order maintained on both sites. Things are not even close to getting out of hand here, and Will closed the thread. The stupid thread on My350Z is way beyond ridiculous, and 500 pages long, and the moderators just let it go. Funny stuff, and is pretty typical of My350Z.

I am not trying to bash My350Z. I really am trying to help out. I am a true automotive enthusiast, and I think forums are a great tool for us. At one point My350Z was one of the better resources for information on the VQ. As I stated, I was one of the first 350Z owners and people on the site. Now, it is more like the good ole' boys country club that has lost sight of what is going on.

I won't say anything else about this. I know there are several My350Z mods on here, and I hope you take what I say seriously. I would really like for My350Z to be a useful site again, but I think it is far from it right now.

I think the theme is the same for most IB forums. I can't say I think any one forum is the best, but I do know when one has lost its way and stinks. Unfortunately, when they get bought out by the likes of IB, they usually go downhill. IB is in this for one thing, and one thing only (cash money). What do you really expect from a for-profit company and a bunch of unpaid moderators?

My350Z was truly a great resource and site for me for a long time. I really feel like things went downhill at some point in the last several years. I can't even say for sure IB is to blame. I am sure they bring some good things to the table when it comes to infrastructure and support. But, something changed for sure, and no one stepped up and did anything about it. It is a shame.

I don't know that all the mods are the problem. Some seem to have good intentions. Like any other business, there are some good ones and bad ones that are the defacto managers. The question is, who is holding the bad ones accountable, and who is ultimately responsible for the long-term success of the site?

I think this is what happens when a bunch of unpaid moderators run a site. I promise you, if they had one person that was paid to run it as the ultimate decision maker/responsible person, this would not happen, and the site would be a whole different animal. No CEO would allow their business to run like that site does, but why would the mods really care? They will get fired, demoted? Nope.

There needs to be someone that is ultimately held responsible for the way the site is run, and I don't see that happening. Imagine if the company you worked for had 15 unpaid CEO's; what do you think would happen there?

Soon the soldiers of My350z will be flooding in defending themselves.

That's OK with me. I see some of the mods already made it in here to defend their honor. To me, the facts speak for themselves. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. In this case, the proof is in the trash that gets posted on My350Z without anyone stepping up and doing anything about it.

I have been on that site longer than all but 1-2 of the mods, and I have no personal issue with the site or anyone on it (I have never personally had someone attack me, never been banned, etc.). I am completely unbiased, have been on that site longer than just about any one, and I think that makes what I have to say much more accurate than what a mod or a My350Z nuthugger has to to say.

I really do want them to turn it around, but turning something around that is badly broken is a difficult task. It needs someone with the right priorities and some *****. It is not going to happen with what they have now. This is no knock on the current mods, but fresh blood is probably the only thing that will do it. This is the funny thing to me.... IB could probably really pay someone to run that site the right way, and more than make back their money doing so in increased memberships and sponsorships if they did the right thing.

Errr... I think so. I could say the same thing about 2/3 of the threads that get created. Sorry, just wanted to get this off my chest, and I think it is beneficial for the community to hear it.

ourvq.com seems to be doing well, it just started out and encompasses the G35/37 and 350z/370z

only problem is its a little slow there now, but at least the people there are nice and actually care about cars, rather than focus on bashing.

internet auto forums = serious business...

I think it's bc there is a much larger younger generation purchasing used Z's now. And all the OG's are gettin butt hurt cause they still think the 350z is a super l33t car that should only be driven by l33t people.. ahah that's my take on it. haters gonna hate. but it's the internet, there's always gonna be stupid people hiding behind a screen
